The Jamaica National Individual Retirement Scheme (JNRS) is a Retirement Scheme, approved and regulated by the Financial Services Commission (FSC). It allows individuals to save consistently towards their retirement while earning tax free interest.
Eligibility
The scheme is eligible to:
Persons over 18 and under the age of 64 years.
Persons who are self employed
Persons who are employed but not contributors to an approved superannuation fund or retirement scheme
Residents in Jamaica
Persons who are able to contribute a minimum of 5% of their Emoluments per annum
Features of JNRS
Member can choose the mix of funds that he or she wants to invest in:
Diversified
Equity
Fixed Income
Foreign Currency
Access to fund status via online portal
Access to funds if terminally or critically ill
Access to benefits given to JN Group Members and through discount merchants who are a part of the JN Rewards Program
Persons can contribute a maximum of 20 per cent of salary annually
Benefits
Contributions are made from gross remuneration
Funds earn compounding interest therefore fund grows faster than normal savings accounts
Members are vested immediately
Fund is personal and therefore moves with you despite change of employer
